Puget Energy's stock surged 10 percent today, a day after announcing it had reached a settlement with some critics of its proposed takeover...

Puget Energy's stock surged 10 percent today, a day after announcing it had reached a settlement with some critics of its proposed takeover by a group of Australian and Canadian investors.

The company's stock climbed $2.48 to close at $27.19.

That was the stock's biggest gain since it rose 16 percent, or $3.85, to $27.80 on Oct. 26, the day the proposed takeover was announced.
