Top-paid non-CEOs — pay packages fit for a CEO

Amazon.com's Sebastian Gunningham, who was hired last year from First Data Utilities to oversee seller services, had a pay package fit for a CEO. Valued at $15.6 million, Gunningham's 2007 pay would have ranked him second among Northwest CEOs, behind James Voelker at InfoSpace and just ahead of Clearwire's Benjamin Wolff. Amazon set Gunningham's initial annual salary at $150,000, plus paid him $1.1 million as part of a signing bonus and gave him restricted stock worth more than $14 million. Here are the Northwest's five top-paid non-CEOs.

Executive Company Title Total compensation
Sebastian Gunningham* Amazon.com Senior vice president, seller services $15,588,878
Brian McManus** InfoSpace Executive vice president, online 9,595,266
Kevin Johnson Microsoft President, platforms and services division 8,847,055
Stephen Rotella Washington Mutual President and chief operating officer 8,762,974

*Gunningham was hired in March 2007; Richardson was hired in January 2007.

**McManus left the company on Dec. 31, 2007.
