Eight Boeing 777 freighters have been purchased by Deucalion Capital VII Limited, a company advised and managed by DVB Bank AG of Germany.
According to an announcement Monday by Boeing and Deucalion, the planes are being leased to AeroLogic, a new joint venture of Lufthansa Cargo and DHL Express.
The planes are worth $2 billion at list prices, but airlines typically negotiate large discounts, especially on multiple orders.
The 777 freighters originally were ordered by Avion Group of Iceland in 2005, but that company terminated its order. The planes were picked up by Deucalion late last year. AeroLogic plans to use the planes on cargo flights between Europe and Asia.
