Seattle area

Biotechnology: Jim Fong was appointed vice president, commercial operations at Cell Therapeutics. Edwin Merrifield was named director, biomarker technical operations at Pacific Biometrics.

Colleges: Robert Fineman was named dean of Health and Human Services at North Seattle Community College.

Conference centers: Jay Bartleson was hired as the executive chef at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center and World Trade Center Seattle.

Consulting: Barbara Arfin Maduell was hired as senior consultant and Kristin Barsness was promoted to principal at The Collins Group (TCG).

Design: Carrie Baldwin was promoted to senior associate at DLR Group.

Food banks: Kim Nelson was appointed capital campaign director and interim development director at Northwest Harvest.

Health care: Dr. Farideh Eskandari, Dr. Patricia Auerbach, Dr. Ellen Frechette, Dr. Jeff Knight and Dr. Adel Assaad were hired as physicians at Virginia Mason Medical Center.

Internet: Scott Ruthfield was named vice president of engineering and technology and John Lusk vice president of marketing at WhitePages.com.

Investment: Dave Mitchell was named senior vice president, financial consultant and branch manager at D.A. Davidson's new office in Edmonds.

Law: Doug Reiser was hired to head the Wolfe Law Group's new Seattle office.

Real estate: Amy Waldrip was hired as commercial property manager/asset manager at Lorig.
