Boeing raised its profit forecast for the year almost 16 percent Wednesday and informed salaried employees later in the day that if it hits that mark, they can expect the company's Employee Incentive Plan to pay out a bonus of 12 days' additional pay early in 2008.

More than 113,000 employees worldwide are eligible for the payouts, some 45,000 of those in the Puget Sound region.

That includes engineers and white-collar technical staff, but not hourly production workers.

Boeing salaried staff received an incentive-plan payout in February based on the company's 2006 financial performance. That bonus also was equivalent to 12 days pay and locally averaged about $4,000 before taxes.
