Nordstrom explores sale of Faconnable clothing brand

Nordstrom is exploring the sale of its Faconnable clothing brand.

Bloomberg News

Nordstrom is exploring the sale of its Faconnable clothing brand.

The Seattle-based upscale retailer bought Faconnable in 2000 after selling the Nice, France-based company's clothes exclusively at its stores.

Nordstrom is considering the sale as it focuses on expanding its chain of 98 stores. The retailer accelerated its plan for store openings in coming years, particularly in 2008, when it will open six, by taking advantage of locations being shed by Federated Department Stores.

The company said in a statement today that it operates four Faconnable boutiques in the U.S. and 36 in Europe. It began selling Faconnable clothing in its stores in 1989. The French company makes clothes for men and women, as well as accessories.
