Mozilla will release the latest version of its browser, Firefox 2, on Tuesday, the company said Friday.
It's the first update since last November for the browser — used by 11 to 15 percent of people on the Internet, according to independent and company estimates.
New features warn users of fraudulent "phishing" Web sites, correct spelling and offer suggestions of frequently used search terms.
Firefox and other browsers have grown in popularity by providing features that users of Microsoft's Internet Explorer could only get with third-party add-ons.
Earlier this week, Microsoft released a major update to its dominant browser, Internet Explorer 7, offering many of those features itself.
Firefox 2 is free, open-source software and runs on Windows, Apple and Linux operating systems.
