Expedia CEO's 2006 salary raised to $1 million

Expedia disclosed Monday that its board increased Chief Executive Dara Khosrowshahi's salary for 2006 to $1 million from $550,000.

The Bellevue-based online travel company said in a document filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission that the raise became effective Feb. 13.

Expedia also said its board approved a grant of 800,000 restricted shares to the CEO.

Precision Conversions

Goodrich may modify 757-200s

Beaverton, Ore.-based Precision Conversions has signed a five-year agreement with Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM) of Orlando, Fla., for multiple 757-200 passenger-to-freighter conversions.

Two airplanes will be converted this year, said Brian McCarthy, Precision's vice president of marketing and sales. The number to follow depends on CAM's ability to acquire more 757 jets ripe for conversion — but that's projected to be a robust market in the years ahead as 757s are pulled out of regular passenger service for a second life as air freighters.

The modification work on the CAM airplanes will be done either at Goodrich's heavy-maintenance facility in Everett or by Flightstar, another aircraft maintenance operation near Jacksonville, Fla. CAM is negotiating with both Goodrich and Flightstar and will make a decision soon.

Microsoft

Parental controls to be offered free

Microsoft said Monday that starting this summer it will integrate free parental controls into its Windows Live online service in a program called Windows Live Family Safety Settings.

The service will roll out over the year and eventually include content filtering for Web sites, online activity reports and control over permissible contacts in the Windows Live e-mail, messenger and blogging features.

Previously, Microsoft offered parental controls in its MSN Premium service at a monthly cost of $10.

Boeing

Airbus may trim A340 production

Airbus might cut production of the A340 wide-body model because the plane is losing orders to Boeing's 777 model.

"It could be," said Tom Enders, co-chief executive of Airbus' parent — European Aeronautic, Defence & Space — in an interview Monday when asked whether A340 output would be reduced. "It's too early to say. We don't panic because we had a bad year. Last year was not spectacularly good for the A340."

Airbus won orders for only 15 of the four-engine A340s in 2005, compared with 155 orders for the two-engine, more fuel-efficient Boeing 777.
