The Port Orchard writer co-authors a picture book for children ages 3-7 about a boy who's in a dilemma about what to do about a horrendous sweater his grandmother knitted for him when she comes to visit him at Christmas time.
"The Twelve Prayers of Christmas" by Candy Chand, illustrated by James Bernardin (Harper Blessings/HarperCollins, $16.99). Twelve poems expressing the thoughts of Mary, Joseph the Three Wise Men and others who were witness to Christ's nativity. Illustrator Bernardin lives in Seattle. For children ages 3-7.
"Stealing Death" by Janet Lee Carey (Egmont, $16.99). A fantasy novel for children ages 12 and up by a Bellevue writer, about a boy who loses his home and family in a deadly fire. When he grapples with death itself, he finds "the key to eternal life."
