Richard Dawkins, 'Darwin's Rottweiler,' in town tonight
Richard Dawkins, a science professor/atheist/author, appears tonight at the University of Washington's Hec Ed Pavilion.
Richard Dawkins, a famous atheist known as "Darwin's Rottweiler," has a new book extolling the evidence of evolutionary biology. "The Greatest Show on Earth" (Free Press, $30) challenges creationists by outlining the scientific case for evolution in this, the bicenntenial year of Darwin's birth. Never one to shy from controversy, Dawkins, author of "The God Delusion" and a retired Oxford University science professor, likens creationists to Holocaust-deniers in his latest book, contending the evidence is as strong for evolution as it is for the Holocaust.
Dawkins is on a book tour around the country and appears at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the University of Washington's Hec Edmundson Pavilion, 3870 Montlake Blvd. N.E. Sponsored by Seattle Science Lectures. Free; for more information contact the University Book Store (206-634-3400; www.ubookstore.com).
