Seattle Arts & Lectures 2009-10 lineup: Annie Proulx, Richard Price and David Byrne

Seattle Arts & Lectures' 2009-2010 series' lineup includes appearances by Annie Proulx, Richard Price, Michael Chabon and David Byrne.

At the moment it seems like summer will never end, but autumn is just around the corner, and with it comes the 2009-10 season of Seattle Arts & Lectures, the city's signature literary series. Here's the lineup:

Oct. 7: Annie Proulx, the Pulitzer Prize/National Book Award-winning author of "The Shipping News" and "Brokeback Mountain," the story that inspired the movie of the same name.

Nov. 4: Lydia Davis, writer ("Varieties of Disturbance," "Samuel Johnson is Indignant") and translator.

Dec. 1: Richard Price, author ("Clockers," "Lush Life") and screenwriter ("The Wire").

Jan. 12: Jane & Michael Stern, travel writers ("Two for the Road: Our Love Affair with American Food").

Feb. 10: Abraham Verghese, physician/author of "Cutting for Stone" and "My Own Country: A Doctor's Story."

March 9: Michael Chabon, author of "The Yiddish Policeman's Union" and "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay."

April 30: Elaine Pagels, author of "The Gnostic Gospels."

May 10: Laila Lalami, author of "Hope and Other Dangerous Pursuits" and "Secret Son."

Special events

Sept. 28: David Byrne, musician/frontman of Talking Heads and author of "The Bicycle Diaries."

March 15: Daniel Handler a.k.a. Lemony Snicket, author of "A Series of Unfortunate Events."

May 3: Atul Gawande, physician/author ("Complications") and New Yorker magazine writer.
