SpiceJet orders 30 Boeing 737-800s

Indian discount carrier SpiceJet informed the Bombay Stock Exchange it has ordered 30 Boeing 737-800s.

Indian discount carrier SpiceJet informed the Bombay Stock Exchange it has ordered 30 Boeing 737-800s, according to a statement on the exchange's website.

The 30 jets have a total list price of $2.3 billion. Assuming standard discounts based on data from aircraft valuation firm Avitas, the actual value is closer to about $1.4 billion.

The planes are scheduled for delivery beginning in 2014.

SpiceJet previously bought 25 737-800s and 5 737-900s in three orders from 2005 to 2007, according to Boeing's website.
