Big bucks for the arts
Notices of awards for the arts in our region are piling up here at ArtsPage HQ; here's a little list of who was given what:
--The Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs Civic Partners Program will distribute more than $1.6 million to 137 organizations this year, Mayor Mike McGinn announced. See a full list here.
--ArtsFund received $570,000 from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to fund the development of "an online resource to collect, manage and publish arts and cultural information," according to the ArtsFund news release. More information here.
--Museum of History & Industry, ACT Theatre, Bellevue Arts Museum, Velocity Dance Center, Jack Straw, Icicle Creek Center for the Arts and many more regional groups received money from the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation (full list here). (On a related note, Icicle Creek has has also announced groundbreaking will take place in April for a privately funded, 240-seat "country mountain theater" for films, speaker series and other events.
