A&E briefs: Al Gore coming to Seattle

"An Inconvenient Truth" is still playing in Seattle theaters, and now Seattleites can see the star — former Vice President Al Gore — in person. He'll give a presentation and discussion of the film and best-selling book at 8 p.m. Oct. 23 at KeyArena.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday; $25-$45 (206-628-0888 or www.ticketmaster.com and at all Ticketmaster locations).

Cornish College gets dance grant

Cornish College of the Arts recently received a $10,000 grant to restage choreographer Bill Evans' "Mixin' It Up." The award is from American Masterpieces: Dance, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts.

The piece will be reconstructed by the Cornish Dance Department working with the Cornish Music Department during a three-week residency that includes master classes and community outreach activities.

Set to music by the jazz pianist Bill Evans, "Mixin' It Up" will be performed in fall 2007.

"Crocodile Hunter" tributes

Animal Planet will air Steve Irwin's memorial service, "Steve Irwin: He Changed Our World," commercial-free at 9 p.m. Tuesday, with an encore broadcast at midnight.

The public memorial ceremony for the beloved animal conservationist and TV personality is being held Wednesday morning in the Crocoseum, a 5,000-seat stadium at Australia Zoo in Beerwah, Australia.

Beginning at noon Sunday, the cable channel will present a 15-hour marathon, "Crocs Rule: A Tribute to Steve Irwin," of his programs. It will include tributes from his friends, colleagues and supporters.
