Holiday candy leftovers: How'd you do? Least favorites?
Posted by Nancy Leson
Good thing I don't have a sweet tooth, or like many of you, I'd be in real trouble this morning, keeping my hands out of this grab-bag:

I can see our dentist Dr. Joe right now, rubbing his hands together while his office staff laughs and says, "Operators are standing by!"
The call's already gone out at my office to "bring in your Halloween candy leftovers" -- to add to the newsroom candy jar (as if there weren't enough sweets around the joint to keep us working overtime). Too bad I don't have enough of these left to go around:

No-sweet-tooth notwithstanding, guess who got the big one?
And in case you were wondering, I was so busy this weekend, I didn't have a chance to experiment with the great homemade-caramel suggestions you shared last week. In the end, I took the easy way out: I used bags of Kraft caramels (there's always next year!). Rest assured, the kids did not complain. Nor did Nate howl too much when I went through his goody bag in search of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups -- probably because I came up short.
My mother used to rummage around for our Nestle Crunch bars, confiscate what she could and hide them in a cookie tin, as I've famously mentioned in this hallowed reminiscence.
Anyway, how'd you do at Halloween this year? Any action at the door, or did the rain scare off the goblins? Things were pretty busy here since the local kids are hip to the fact that our across-the-street neighbors offer up movie-sized candy and we spring for full-size candy bars -- since I'm well aware there's no "fun" in "fun size."
Last year, I asked you to tell me about your favorite Halloween candy. This year I'm wondering, what's your least favorite? Among the booty found in Nate's bag (now hanging on the coat rack, lest the little dastardly dog gets into it), I'm probably least likely to choose the Laffy Taffy.
