Astrological Forecasts

ARIES (March 21-April 19): Deal with it. Your flirtatious methods could win the heart of someone you admire highly, but you won't be able to gauge the reactions of others right away. Warmth and friendliness work in any scenario.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Put the proper spin on your public persona. Famous orator Mark Twain once said that the only difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to be credible. Your reputation could be too far-fetched.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20): What you know and what you suspect are two different things. Give others the benefit of the doubt, even if doubts hold you back from pursuing a relationship or making a decision.

CANCER (June 21-July 22): The nurturing of friendships requires more than a quick phone call. It is time to take someone to lunch or drop by with a small gift just to show that you care. Be proactive about your relationships.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): Get out of your shell. Rather than being frustrated by the apparent lack of response to your passion, put it to work for you. Try being a bit more outgoing and sociable; things aren't necessarily what they seem.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Hammer out the details. You may have raw talent, but it's still necessary to refine your technique through self-criticism. Although you may think you are being subtle, your motivations are transparent to everyone.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): Find out about a secret admirer. You are at your best when you work side by side with others or have a congenial sidekick who can tag along. Someone who is usually bashful might make the first move.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): You don't need to be subtle. You may think an apology wasn't effective, but further investigation will prove that it has been accepted. This isn't a good time to trust your intuitions in public.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Build others up rather than tearing them down. Sarcasm or voicing suspicions can cause subtle damage to a good relationship just as it is turning a positive corner. Remain above reproach.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Shake your tambourine and wake yourself from apathy. An accurate appraisal will help you pinpoint places where your money is being wasted or sapped away by petty expenses.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): Land on your feet. One of the reasons that cats seem to have nine lives is because they remain unfazed when they fall from heights. One of your fantasies may be unfounded and let you down.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): Strike a pose. Don't try to hide what you don't know or pull a veil over your intentions. If you expect to live on a pedestal, realize that everyone will be able to see everything and know the truth.

IF MAY 13 IS YOUR BIRTHDAY: You can't escape from the world. You might like to retreat from harsh realities in the late summer when you are especially sensitive to the environment and your sympathetic nature is working on overtime. Fight off the desire to feel sorry for yourself or to magnify worries out of proportion. Your luck can change for the better in December -- either through meeting someone who has your best interests at heart or through a splendid opportunity to advance in the outer world.

BIRTHDAY GUY: Comedian Stephen Colbert, who made a tongue-in-cheek bid for the presidency this year, was born in Washington, D.C., today in 1964. This birthday guy first hit it big with his satiric political commentary on ``The Daily Show'' before going on to success on his own with the Emmy-nominated ``The Colbert Report.'' Once a member of the famed Second City comedy troupe, Colbert's early roots in TV were in comedy series such as ``The Dana Carvey Show,'' ``Exit 57'' and ``Strangers With Candy.'' He's also appeared in feature films such as ``Bewitched.'' Colbert has also penned the best-selling book ``I Am America (And So Can You!).''
