About the video
A team of Seattle Times journalists began work on this multimedia special report more than a year ago.
Lynda V. Mapes and Steve Ringman reported this project together, with Ringman shooting photographs and video, Mapes doing the research, interviews and writing. Together, they logged hundreds of hours exploring the Elwha River in rafts, on foot, by plane and in the water, from its wilderness reaches far above Glines Canyon Dam all the way to the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
Video Editor Genevieve Alvarez worked with Mapes and Ringman to shape the thousands of words and photos and hours of raw video footage into a multiple-platform presentation.
As with any project of this size, it took a village of editors and designers to bring the work to readers on seattletimes.com and The Seattle Times newspaper. Read more on the project here.
