UPDATE: With I-5 now open, Haley has decided not to continue on to Portland but to spend more time in hard-hit Chehalis. Look for her byline in tomorrow's newspaper and on seattletimes.com
Editor's Note: The closure of I-5 from this week's flood disrupted one of the nation's major north-south corridors and forced drivers onto secondary roads that haven't seen such traffic in decades. Seattle Times reporter Haley Edwards took to the backroads this morning to find out what life is like off the beaten path.
