Through the looking glass

Larey McDaniel, president of Parklane Gallery in Kirkland, holds an oil painting that is about 2 inches high, one of 300 works at the gallery's 14th annual juried miniature show, which runs through June 4. The painting, "Sunkist" by Brooke Rothshank, was priced at $250 and depicts an Amish girl holding a can of soda. Magnifying glasses for viewing are supplied by the artist-owned gallery.
